This weekend is the Erskine Christmas Lights Switch-On event and Christmas Market.

The Christmas lights will be turned on at Bridgewater Shopping Centre on Friday evening and Erskine’s first Christmas market is taking place at Park Mains High School at 12pm until 4pm on Saturday afternoon.

At 6pm on Friday, local groups will come together to provide music at the Christmas Lights Switch-on at Bridgewater Shopping Centre.

Entertainment includes a jingle bell walk, decorated buggy push, a torchlight procession with pipers playing, carol singing and festive goodies to celebrate the switch on of the Christmas Tree lights.

At the market on Saturday afternoon, which is in aid of Renfrewshire Foodbank, Santa will be making an appearance at 12.30pm and there will also be the chance to meet him in his Grotto.

Outside will be a Christmas Market including a Farmers Market and a carnival.

Also on the day you’ll be able to purchase fine hand crafted fabric goods, personalised Christmas decorations, jewellery, baby accessories, some yummy luxury fudge and hot food and drinks.

Local photographer Frank Graham will be on hand to ensure you have a memory to treasure.

The Christmas market has been organised by the Erskine Community Council and this is the first Christmas market they have held.
