he Aged Veterans’ Fund, funded by the Chancellor using LIBOR funds, has made a grant of £402,400 to the charity Music in Hospitals for the provision of 1,200 live music sessions in care homes for ex-service men and women.
The live music programme, Heroes in Harmony, started at the beginning of April 2016 and will last for a year, touching every part of the UK. There are over 50 care homes and sheltered housing schemes specifically for ex-service men and women across the UK, as well as many other care settings which also include members of the ex-service community amongst their residents.
In Scotland, to commemorate Armed Forces Day, a special Heroes in Harmony performance will take place at The Erskine Home in Bishopton on Tuesday 21st June. The biggest of Erskine’s four care homes, The Erskine Home provides nursing, residential, respite and dementia care for veterans and their spouses.
