Work to tidy up land on either side of Renfrewshire’s motorway and bypass system will begin next week.
Overnight between Wednesday 8th and Sunday 12th May workers will cut grass on the verges, patch an area of carriageway near Langbank while third party companies will be taking the chance to do work too.
Grass cutting work begins on 8th May at 8pm on the eastbound A737 (Linwood) to M8 Junction 27 (Arkleston) and the M8 westbound M8 Junction 27 to A737 Linwood. That evening will also work at the M8 eastbound prior to Junction 29 on slip at St James to the M8 eastbound at Junction 27.
The following evening sees work in both directions between the A737 between Kilbarchan and Linwood, again between 8pm and 6am.
The evening of 10th May, crews will be grass cutting on the A8 Westferry to Newark, both on and off ramps at Junction 31 (West Ferry), as well as carriageway patching on the A8 westbound prior to Langbank Roundabout.
Finally, the hard shoulder will be closed at the M8 J29A near Bishopton to allow for third party work.
SNP Councillor Andy Steel, who represents Johnstone South & Elderslie, said “This work is always welcome as it means we’re really into the better weather. And doing the jobs over night means minimising disruption for people travelling, as well as reducing the risk to the workforce.”
