Mount Stuart House gets a universal ‘thumbs up’ from Paisley & District U3A members as they recently went ‘doon the water’ to visit this neo-gothic mansion on the Isle of Bute, designed by Scottish architect Robert Rowand Anderson.
U3A Chair Kathleen O’Donnell said: “We were lucky with the weather and enjoyed our tour of this magnificent stately home. It has the wow factor. It was also the first house in Scotland to have electricity, a lift, a central heating system and a heated indoor swimming pool. Local wasps loved being in the gardens as much as we did!”
