A new post box has been installed in the heart of Linwood Town Centre.

Residents and an Elderly group put in a request to Royal Mail to place a new post box in Linwood after the Town Centre underwent a transformation.

In 2014 a new Tesco was built, along with the new Tweedie hall and shop units, but this request was denied.

After a campaign by local Labour Councillor Stuart Clark, with support from former MP Jim Sheridan, Royal Mail reconsidered and a new box appeared a few weeks ago.

Speaking via his Facebook page, Councillor Clark said: “Delighted that following myself and former MP Jim Sheridan’s request, Royal Mail have delivered on the promise they made to us to install a postbox at the new town centre in Linwood.

“It’s located on Bridge Street and easily accessible from the new Tesco so ideal to get those Christmas Cards sent off!”
