Four players of the Postcode Lottery from Erskine have won a share of £100,000.

Each person won £25,000 each when their postcode, PA8 6DB, was drawn on Saturday as a winner in the Saturday Street Prize.

Evelyn Macdonald, 46, who works in the ticket office at Bishopton train station was shocked to see People’s Postcode Lottery presenter Judie McCourt on her doorstep to offer her the cheque.

She said “I couldn’t believe it when I saw the amount on the cheque. I still can’t believe it is actually true.”

Evelyn signed up to play People’s Postcode Lottery in March, and now that’s she’s a winner, she has her own surprise in mind.

“I have not seen my friend, Annette, for over two years as she lives in New York,” Evelyn explained. “Now I have won this money, I can go to New York for the first time in 15 years and pay her a surprise visit.”

Evelyn signed up after her sister Shirley urged her to. “My sister and I are spending a long weekend in Livingston this weekend for a girly shopping spree. I’ll have to treat her to something nice!” Evelyn laughed.

Another winner, Susan Boyle, 67, is still in shock after being presented with her cheque. “This win has come at the perfect time,” she said. “All of the main appliances in my house have broken at once, so I can replace them all now without having to worry.”

Susan, a retired Auxiliary Nurse, would also like to treat herself and her husband, Matthew, 72, to a holiday in Florida. “We went to Florida seven years ago and have wanted to go back ever since,” said Susan.

As well as replacing appliances in her home and going on holiday, Susan and Matthew have plenty of family to spoil. “I have three children, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, who all deserve a treat,” she said.

Susan signed up to support charities, and often takes her grandchildren and great-grandchildren to Lamont Farm to enable them to see farm animals up close. “The farm took in my daughter’s pony so we go to visit it often. It is great knowing that, by playing People’s Postcode Lottery, I am supporting many great causes like Lamont Farm,” Susan said.

The third winner was Catherine Montgomery, 69, who was equally delighted to receive her £25,000 cheque. “It’s absolutely wonderful,” she said. “I can think of 101 ways to spend it.”

The final winner was Robert Boyd, 38, who also won £25,000.

The players get to make a £10,000 donation from the lottery’s charity fund and they picked Lamont Farm in Erskine and the money was donated to their ‘Outreach Demonstrations project’.
