Police closed off a street in Johnstone this afternoon after they received a report that someone had a gun inside a flat in MacDowall Street.
An armed response unit was dispatched to an address in McDowall Street and a 26-year-old man was arrested and will appear at court at a later date.
The incident happened shortly after 4pm and the street has since been reopened.
A Police Scotland spokesperson, said: “Officers were called to Macdowell Street in Johnstone on Sunday at 4.05pm after reports of a man with a firearm in a property.
“A 26-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident.
“He has since been released on an undertaking and will appear at court at a later date.”
