Detectives are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a 17-year-old man was seriously assaulted in Paisley on Tuesday.

Officers were called to Netherhill Road in Gallowhill after the attack was reported at around 3.45am.

The injured man was taken by ambulance to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley where he was treated for injuries to his lower body.

Detective Constable Robert Urquhart of Paisley Police Office said: “We are still working to establish the circumstances on this assault and get more information on the person responsible. We have been speaking to people in the area and officers are continuing to study CCTV footage.

“At this time I would ask any witnesses to this assault, or anyone with any information that may assist our investigation to contact Paisley Police Office through 101 quoting reference number 0258 of [Tuesday] 25th September 2018.
