Police have made an appeal for witnesses after a robbery at a petrol station in Paisley this morning.

The robbery happened around 6.25am when a man entered the BP garage in Greeenock Road, Paisley and threatened the male member of staff with a weapon and demanded cigarettes.

He then made off in the direction of Caledonia Court, Paisley, with a quantity of cigarettes.

The member of staff was uninjured but badly shaken as a result of this incident.

The suspect is described as white, in his 30s, around 5ft 8 inches in height with dark-coloured hair. He was wearing a high viz vest and a black hooded jacket. He was carrying a red holdall.

Detective Sergeant Alex Allardyce from Paisley Police Office said: “Enquiries are at an early stage into this robbery.

“Greenock Road is a busy thoroughfare and I would ask anyone who was in that area this morning around the time of the incident who either witnessed anything suspicious or who has dash cam footage to please contact officers.

“Anyone with information, or who has been offered cigarettes for sale in the local area today, should contact Paisley Police Office through 101 quoting reference number 0525 of Monday 3rd December. Alternatively CRIMESTOPPERS can be contacted on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained.”
