McGill’s Buses have announced that 26 new single deck buses will enter their network in March.

The new additions will include engine stop/start technology ensuring the vehicles are fully compliant of the Low Emission Zone Glasgow is set to introduce at the beginning of next year.

McGill’s has invested £8.3m in new buses in the last 18 months and spent a further £2m on new ticket systems with features such as contactless payment.

The buses will be added to routes in Inverclyde, Renfrewshire and Glasgow.

James Easdale, Chairman of McGill’s, said: “We’re delighted to support a Scottish bus manufacturer and my brother Sandy and I are particularly proud that we have done this deal entirely free of subsidies, which is quite unusual in the current business climate.”
