An elderly man  has died in hospital after being struck by a van in Linwood on Tuesday afternoon.

The 84-year-old, who has not been identified, was crossing Abernethy Drive, Linwood at around 4.45pm on Tuesday afternoon when he was struck by a Vauxhall Combo van being driven by a 51 year-old man.

Emergency services attended the scene and he was taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he was being treated for his injuries. He died the following day in hospital.

The driver of the van was uninjured.
