An increase in electric charging points in Paisley have been welcomed by a Paisley Councillor.
New proposals will see an additional 26 new charging spaces across 4 car parks in Paisley over the course of this year.
The new charging spaces will installed in the following spaces:
- 2 new charging spaces at the Lagoon Centre Car Park
- 8 new charging spaces at the Bridge Street Car Park
- 8 new charging spaces at the New Sneddon Street Car Park
- 8 new charging spaces at the Hunter Street Car Park
Councillor Burns, SNP Paisley South West, said: “This is a great boost for more sustainable transport.
“One of the biggest drawbacks of buying electric vehicles is the lack of charging points. This move by the SNP administration at Renfrewshire Council helps to alleviate that problem.
“I’m sure these new charging spaces will encourage more people to think about shifting from petrol or diesel to electric vehicles, cutting down on the fumes and pollution caused by petrol and diesel engines.
“The council has already started to increase the number of electric vehicles it uses and this move will help encourage more residents to think about switching to electric vehicles.”
