Community police officers, Adam Marshall and Ross Watson tipped off Paisley & District University of the Third Age (U3A) members at a recent monthly meeting about IT and doorstep scams.

Both officers spent 45 minutes answering questions from an enthusiastic audience, including one lady who asked to try putting on handcuffs!

U3A chair, Kathleen O’Donnell said: “This has been one of the most interactive events we’ve held. People were willing to share their own experiences of scams. Everyone wanted to know how best to avoid any current con tricks. We all learned such a lot.”

U3A groups and activities are geared for semi and fully retired people who want to take up new interests.

Paisley & District U3A monthly meetings are free to attend and the next one is on Thursday 2nd May at 2pm in the Salvation Army Hall, Mill Street, Paisley.

Guest speaker John Walker will talk about the Cambridge spies who shared secrets with the Russians during World War 2.

Tea and coffee is available from 1.45pm. Details on all group activities can be found at: https://u3asites.org.uk/paisley/welcome.
