A home in Paisley has been robbed by two men armed with knives where they stole a small safe while a young child was present in the next room.

The armed robbery took place at around 11.50am in Dee Crescent, Paisley on Friday morning.

A 27-year-old woman was confronted by two men armed with knives when she answered the door of her home. They made their way into the house where the woman’s 31-year-old male partner challenged them, however, they managed to get into one of the rooms where they stole a small safe containing personal items.

The suspects, who made off on foot towards Fulbar Road, are described as both white, between 30 and 40 years of age, wearing almost identical clothing: black work wear type jackets, dark trousers, dark sunglasses, gloves and black baseball caps.

Detective Constable John Sharkey, Paisley CID, is investigating the robbery. He said: “Although thankfully not injured, this was very distressing for both the man and woman involved especially as their young child was also in the house at the time.

“The man gave chase after the suspects along Dee Crescent and managed to recover one of the weapons used, but the men got away.

“At this time we do not know why their house was targeted. We have had officers in the area speaking to neighbours many of whom came out to assist or who had heard a disturbance, however, we would still like to hear from anyone who may have seen the two suspects – who will have looked completely out of place there – before or after the robbery, or who may have any information that will assist officers with their enquiries.
