Police are to clamp down on illegal weekend parking on Shuttle Street and the surrounding area.

Officers are taking action after continued complaints from members of the public regarding vehicles regularly driving and parking on the pedestrianised area.

Cars are restricted from driving on Shuttle Street for a number of hours during the day and in the evening. At weekends the street is busy with pub revellers visiting popular bars, The Lane, Bar – Pre and live music venue The Bungalow. There is also a restaurant situated in the street, Jam Jar.

Parking on pavements in George Place will also be restricted and new legislation recently introduced by the Scottish Government will be enforced.

A Police Scotland Spokesperson, said: “Over the weekend there were several complaints regarding vehicles parked on the restricted zone in Shuttle Street. There will be some enforcement over next few weeks.

“Please take care & park responsibly.”
