Erskine Park Home staff and residents are in celebratory mood today after Home Administrator Jackie Kennedy won a top award at the Scottish Care Awards.

At the award ceremony in the Hilton Hotel in Glasgow on Friday evening, Jackie, beat off stiff competition from two other finalists to win the Best Ancillary and Support award from Scottish Care – the voice of independent care in Scotland.

The award celebrates the contribution of ancillary and support staff in delivering high quality care and recognises Jackie as the leading care home employee in Scotland within the support category.

Erskine Park Home specialises in the provision of first class dementia care for 40 Veterans and spouses. Jackie, who lives in Erskine, has been in her role at the Home for over 11 years.

She is often the first face people see when they enter the Home and the first voice people hear when they phone. Jackie is warm, approachable and trustworthy. She is always willing to help residents and their relatives, staff and visitors by easing any distress and is comforting at difficult times. Jackie is so highly thought of within the Home both internally and externally.

Jackie said: “I am completely overwhelmed to have received this award. I was so delighted when I was told that I had been nominated but didn’t think for a minute that I would have been a finalist let alone a winner. I very much enjoy my job at Erskine. Engaging with our residents and supporting our relatives is a huge part of my daily routine and I enjoy this part of my job very much. I am feeling so honoured just now and I am proud to be part of the Erskine Team.”

Erskine’s Director of Care Derek Barron said: “We are extremely proud of Jackie on her award win which is in recognition of her dynamic contribution to the lives of our residents and their relatives and in supporting the smooth running of Erskine Park Home. Jackie is often the first person a visitor sees and the last person they see before leaving. While it is easier to see the contribution frontline care staff make in the lives of our residents, the huge added value Jackie brings engaging daily with residents is joyful to see. We are immensely proud of her.”
