Renfrewshire’s fourteen multi storey blocks are to receive a Condition Survey.

Members of Renfrewshire Council’s Finance, Resources and Customer Service Policy Board welcomed the approval of the contract that will see a Multi Storey Condition Survey undertaken.

The Council require a specialist Consultant with architectural, energy efficiency, stock condition surveying, quantity surveying, structural engineering skills and experience to carry out a condition survey of our fourteen multi storey blocks within the Renfrewshire area.

The contract, which received unanimous approval from members of the board, will see work undertaken to assess the multi storey blocks in order to understand both their investment and maintenance requirements over the next ten years.

Welcomed by Cllr Jim Paterson, he told Renfrewshire News: “I am pleased to see that this contract has been approved today and will follow with interest the outcome of work. Having been brought up in a multi storey block in Glasgow which has long since been demolished I have always shown a keen interest in the condition of the two multi storey blocks in my ward at which I have a monthly advice surgery.

“It is my opinion that we should not only be looking to ensure that these properties are safe but desirable places for residents to stay and I would welcome any investment following the conclusion of the assessment works, particularly to foyer areas and lifts.”
