Police are appealing for information following a robbery at an off-licence in Paisley on Wednesday.

A 38-year-old member of staff in the Gallowhill Off-Licence, Gallowhill Rd, Paisley, was threatened by a man armed with a knife who demanded money before running off empty handed towards nearby Marjory Drive, Paisley at around 6.15 pm.

The suspect is described as white, Scottish, slim, 5ft 10 in height, wearing dark clothing, a dark coloured scarf covering his face and black gloves.

Detective Constable Dougie MacFarlane, Paisley CID, said: “Thankfully then man in the shop was not seriously hurt and didn’t need any medical attention, however, it was very frightening for him to experience.

“Officers have spoken to the customers who were in the store at the time and have been checking CCTV, but are keen to hear from anyone who may have been in the area, or maybe driving by and who may have dash-cam footage.

“It’s also possible the man may be local and had been hanging about the store prior to the incident, so if you saw him or have any information that will assist officers with their enquiries, then please call Paisley CID via 101 quoting reference number 2843 of 19 February 2020.
