A Paisley business is celebrating after scooping a prestigious local government award.

Kibble collected the Workforce Development award at the prestigious Scotland Excel Supplier Excellence Awards held at the Radisson Blu in Glasgow on Thursday 20th February. More than 300 guests from across the public and private sectors attended the glittering ceremony hosted by broadcaster, Dougie Vipond.

The award was in recognition of the company’s Child and Youth Care Worker Development Programme, which attracts fresh talent to the care sector, providing training, qualifications and experience to support trainees into becoming successful child and youth care workers. The 12-month programme was developed to encourage those with the right soft skills to carve out a rewarding career in care.

The Supplier Excellence Awards is the only award programme dedicated to the role of suppliers in public procurement, and celebrate the economic, social and environmental benefits delivered for communities through Scotland Excel contracts.

Kibble Learning and Development Manager, Marie Duncan, said, “Winning this award is a wonderful achievement for the many people involved in our ‘staff in training’ programme. This truly has been a project that wouldn’t have been successful without the commitment, hard work and energy of directors, the L&D team and the staff and mentors on the ground.

“This programme has seen us take an innovative approach to recruitment, which has attracted fresh talent into the organisation, allowing trainees from a variety of backgrounds to move into a career in care. The award is a proud moment for all of us and will support the growth and success of Kibble into the future.”

Renfrewshire Councillor John Shaw, Convener of Scotland Excel, said: “Our suppliers play a vital role in supporting delivery of essential public services and it is right and fitting that we recognise those that go the extra mile.

“Winning a Supplier Excellence Award is a real accolade for the business community, as it’s the only awards programme in the country to recognise the achievements of local government suppliers. Competition was tough, and our expert judging panel had its work cut out.

“My congratulations go to Kibble for their hard work and well-deserved success in these prestigious awards.”

Scotland Excel is the centre of procurement expertise for local government in Scotland. The Supplier Excellence Awards are open to more than 900 suppliers participating in their national contracts worth £1.9bn per annum.
