Quarriers has welcomed a positive response to its recruitment drive with over 450 applications.

The leading social care charity urgently needs staff and volunteers who can provide vital services for some of society’s most vulnerable people. The need for immediate recruitment has increased as the Coronavirus continues to cause challenging circumstances for both existing Quarriers staff and volunteers, and those they support.

A number of positions are still available in key areas and the organisation is continuing to recruit for roles in Renfrewshire.

The positive response to the recruitment campaign has resulted in the initial applicants now beginning to take up their new roles. Tracy Rodger is about to start as a support worker with Quarriers Village Supported Living services which supports people with disabilities to live independently within their own communities.

Tracy joins Quarriers from RAMH (Recovery Across Mental Health) in Renfrewshire where she had been working in a temporary position as a Mental Health Support Worker.

She had previously worked with CLIC Sargent for 14 years and was manager of one of their ‘home from home’ services. Tracy also held positions as a manager, teacher and a counsellor throughout her professional career.

Tracy said: “This is an unusual and challenging time and although the interview was by telephone and took place at short notice, I felt that the process was thorough.

“The ethos of Quarriers fits with my values of enabling individuals to use tailored support to achieve meaningful and realistic personal goals and I am looking forward to starting and meeting colleagues and service users.”

Dr. Ron Culley, Chief Executive Officer with Quarriers, said: “This is a very difficult and challenging time for everyone and the social care sector has a very important role to play in providing much-needed support to some of society’s most vulnerable.

“We are indebted to all our staff and volunteers for their hard work in continuing to provide such a high level of service but we are still recruiting to boost our staff numbers and looking forward to additional staff joining our committed team.”

Quarriers is still recruiting for further roles and current vacancies can be found at https://quarriers.org.uk/jobs.
