Police Scotland are appealing for information after a man was the victim of a serious assault in the town.

The incident happened around 7.50pm on Tuesday.

A 32-year-old was struck to the head with a metal object during the incident.

He was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for treatment to his injuries.

Officers are working to identify two men in connection with the incident.

The first suspect was on a dark coloured bicycle and wearing a light grey puffer jacket and dark trousers.

The second was on foot and wearing a black jacket, a luminous yellow polo shirt and dark jogging bottoms. He had short hair, shaved at the sides.

Detective Constable Lucy Craig said: “Our enquiries into this incident are ongoing and I would urge anyone who may have witnessed the disturbance to get in touch.

“We would also be keen to hear from anyone who may have dashcam or private CCTV footage from the area.

“Anyone with information can call 101, quoting reference 3064 of 5 December, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
