A bus has crashed into Hamilton Court, a high rise building, on Calside in Paisley.

Emergency services are in attendance at the incident, which involved a McGill’s single-decker bus, at around 12.20pm this afternoon.

Five people have been taken to hospital for treatment.

A number of road closures are in place including Calside Avenue, Polsons Crescent, Craw Road and Alexandra Gate.

Police Scotland have asked drivers to avoid the area.

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We received a call at 12.25pm to attend an incident in Calside, Paisley.

“A range of resources including ambulances, special operations response teams, a trauma team and a critical care paramedic were dispatched to the scene.

“Three patients were transported to the Royal Alexandra Hospital and two patients were transported to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.”

A spokesperson for McGill’s Buses said: “This is a live incident and McGill’s personnel are in attendance to establish the detail of the crash.

“We cannot comment further at this stage.”

In August 2022 a man was arrested and charged with road traffic offences after the car he was driving crashed into the same towerblock.
