Police name pedestrian who died after being hit by car in Johnstone

An 85-year-old man has died in hospital following a road crash on Beith Road, Johnstone on Sunday.

Police Scotland has released the name of the man as John Allan.

The crash took place at around 8.30am and involved a red Toyota Corolla and a pedestrian.

The 85-year-old pedestrian who was injured as a result of the crash died within the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital on Tuesday.

Officers have renewed an appeal for information.

Sergeant Paul Mellis of the Road Policing Unit said: “Our thoughts remain with John’s family and friends at this very difficult time.

“Enquiries into the crash are continuing. I would appeal to anyone with information or dashcam footage to contact us through 101 quoting incident number 0814 of 29 December, 2024.”
