A woman from Greenock has been forced out of her home in Johnstone after local residents gathered in protest.
Nicole Blain, 29 is accused of killing her baby daughter, Thea June Wilson, who died at a Greenock property on 14th July, 2023.
Yesterday afternoon, a social media post encouraged locals to gather and demand that Blain leave the area. Later that evening, around 7.25pm, police were called to Floorsburn Crescent in Johnstone when a crowd had formed near the property where Blain was staying.
Video footage from the scene shows officers escorting Blain into a police vehicle while protesters shouted obscenities, and raised their middle fingers.
Blain has pleaded not guilty to the charges. Prosecutor Alan Cameron KC said in court that she is accused of repeatedly shaking her daughter and causing blunt force injuries, although the exact details of how the injuries happened remain unclear. Her trial is scheduled to begin in April 2026.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 7.25pm on Monday, 9th June, 2025, we received a report of a crowd gathered outside a property in Floorsburn Crescent, Johnstone.
“Officers attended and the crowd dispersed a short time later.”
