Late Celtic goal denies St Mirren a hard-earned point at Parkhead

St Mirren started their league campaign away to Celtic on the opening weekend of the new season.
Before kick-off, Celtic unfurled the Championship flag and paid tribute to two of the Lisbon Lions who passed away during the summer.

As expected, St Mirren spent much of the game defending but came close to securing a hard-earned draw. Late in the match, Celtic thought they had taken the lead, only for VAR to rule the goal out for handball.

However, in the 87th minute, substitute Luke McCowan scored the only goal of the game to hand Celtic all three points.

Despite the defeat, the Saints worked hard throughout and once again showed that they’ll be tough opponents for most sides this season.
