Local businesses are being encouraged to head along to a Meet the Buyer event in Renfrew later this month as work gets underway on one of Renfrewshire’s biggest infrastructure projects.

Farrans Construction, the main contractor for Renfrewshire Council’s Advanced Manufacturing Innovation District Scotland (AMIDS) project, will soon begin building a new 93-metre steel arch bridge, upgrading 1.7km of existing road and creating 550m of new road in Paisley.

The company says it is keen to work with local suppliers of all sizes – particularly micro-enterprises, SMEs and social enterprises – for a wide range of services. These include everything from CCTV and temporary power, to archaeological and invasive species surveys, cleaning services and fencing.

As the project develops, further opportunities will open up for materials and specialist works, such as concrete and aggregates, piling, surfacing and concreting.

The free event will be held at the Glynhill Hotel in Renfrew on Wednesday 24th September, from 9am to 12 noon. There’s no need to register in advance – businesses can simply turn up on the day to meet the Farrans team.

Anyone with queries ahead of the event can email supplychain@farrans.com.
