Renfrewshire-based charity Active Communities has appointed Susie Paterson as the new Chairperson of its Board of Trustees.
Susie, who formally took up the role in August, will help guide the Johnstone-based charity’s strategic direction as it continues its mission to improve health and wellbeing across Renfrewshire.
With a professional background spanning events, sales management and business development in the third sector, Susie brings a wealth of experience to the role. She currently works as Business Development Manager at Motherwell and Wishaw Citizens Advice Bureau, where she focuses on building partnerships, securing resources and driving organisational growth.
Speaking about her appointment, Susie said: “I am absolutely thrilled to step into the role of Chairperson for Active Communities. It’s truly inspiring to witness the incredible impact Active Communities has on people’s lives every single day, delivering amazing projects and programmes that empower individuals to thrive and live well. I am looking forward to collaborating with our dedicated volunteers and passionate teams to build upon the remarkable achievements they have accomplished so far, continuing our vital work in fostering healthier, more vibrant communities.”

Founded in 2003, Active Communities runs a wide range of projects aimed at improving health and wellbeing for people across Renfrewshire. From community pantries and parent support programmes to initiatives like Health Champions and Hearty Lives, the charity works closely with local groups and public sector partners to deliver support where it’s needed most.
The appointment follows the departure of former Chairperson Alan Clark, who stepped down from the role of CEO on 31st August 2025.
The charity, based at Station Seven in Johnstone, also offers volunteering opportunities for local residents who want to make a difference in their community.
