Members of Kairos Women+ are inviting the public to visit their new photography exhibition, which is part of the Renfrewshire Mental Health Arts Festival programme.
The exhibition takes place at Creative Paisley’s Off the High Street space in the Paisley Centre and runs from Tuesday 4th to Friday 7th November, between 10am and 5.30pm. A special celebration event will be held on the Friday from 12.30pm to 2.30pm, with everyone welcome to join.
The work on display is the result of a series of creative workshops led by photographer Miriam Ali and supported by the Scottish Recovery Network. Together, the group explored the theme of Comfort & Disturb, learning more about photography and experimenting with different types of cameras and even cyanotype – an old printing process that uses sunlight to develop images.
Through images and words, the exhibition reflects the quiet courage of living with mental health challenges and the healing that comes from connection, empathy, and shared experience.
The project brings together women+ with lived experience of mental health challenges, neurodivergent women+, and migrant women+, each bringing their own perspective and personal journey to the work.
One participant said: “It’s highlighted for me the great importance a place like this is for women+ to feel safe and nurtured, in a society where being a woman – especially within a minority group – can be an ongoing challenge in life. It’s given me a sense of hope and encouragement.”
Visitors are encouraged to drop in, explore the exhibition, and sign the visitor book.
