ScotRail has confirmed a revised train service will operate on Friday, 2nd January 2026, following the New Year shutdown, with later-than-normal first departures across key routes serving Renfrewshire.There will be no ScotRail services on New Year’s Day (Thursday, 1st January), with trains beginning to run again the following morning under a reduced timetable before a full return to normal service on Saturday, 3rd January.
The revised Friday service includes early morning trains on routes to and from Glasgow Central, with all listed services travelling through Renfrewshire stations, including Paisley and surrounding areas.
First departures include services on the Ayr, Largs/Ardrossan Harbour, Gourock/Wemyss Bay, and Paisley Canal lines, with initial trains generally starting between2310 8.30am and 9.30am, depending on the route.
Passengers are being urged to check their journey before travelling, as services will be less frequent than usual and early-morning options are limited.
Normal ScotRail timetables are scheduled to resume on Saturday, 3rd January.
Travellers can plan ahead using the ScotRail Journey Planner or mobile app to confirm exact times and station stops.
