A new ASN breakfast club is set to launch in Johnstone in a bid to create a relaxed and welcoming environment for families with additional support needs children.

The event will take place at Colliers Bar on Sunday, 5 July, from 9.30am until 11.30am.

Organisers say the idea came from recognising how difficult eating out can sometimes be for families caring for children with additional support needs.

In a social media post announcing the event, Jamie Robertson from Colliers, said: “We know how hard things can be for families that are dealing with an ASN child so to make things a little easier and try help build relationships and confidence we will be holding a sensory breakfast club for families with ASN children.

“We will only be a small groups not selling out every table.

“Everyone will be in the same boat as you so no one will be judging any meltdowns or stims.”

He added: “We know first hand how nervous it can be to take a child with ASN out for food and sit at a table so for that reason we will be having a relaxed time schedule for this breakfast between 9.30am and 11.30am.”

The breakfast club will cost £30 for a family of three and includes two adult breakfasts with unlimited tea and coffee, along with a children’s meal and unlimited drinks for the child.

Organisers say the first event will be kept small and, depending on demand, more dates could follow in future.

A deposit is required to secure bookings due to the limited number of tables available.
