Officers have seized a Sur-Ron type bike after stopping a rider in Johnstone during patrols targeting the illegal use of e-bikes and e-scooters.
Renfrewshire’s Priority Policing Team was carrying out patrols as part of Project Trail on Thursday 30th July 2026.
At around 9pm, officers saw a male riding a Sur-Ron type bike on John Lang Street.
The rider was stopped and has been charged with road traffic offences. The bike was seized.
Police said officers will continue to patrol areas across Renfrewshire to tackle the illegal use of off-road bikes, e-bikes and e-scooters. Those responsible will be reported under the relevant legislation.
Inspector Ross Wilson, of the Community Policing Team, said: “I want to thank members of the community for their continued support. The information provided to us has helped identify hot spots and perpetrators.
“I would encourage anyone who has any information to assist in identifying these individuals, including CCTV, Ring doorbell or dash-cam footage, to contact police via 101 or by emailing the community policing team direct at RenfrewshireInverclydeLPSTRenfrewshire@scotland.police.uk, or to call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
“I would like to remind parents whose children may be utilising these electric bikes and scooters that they can only be used legally on private land with the permission of the landowner.”

Secondly if you think its an over exaggeration to say there will be rider killed your delusional.
Thirdly if you have the capacity, try and imagine how the driver who may be in the collision with the person illegally riding their scooter on the road would feel. The parents of the person riding the scooter have only themselves to blame, they bought the scooter knowing it was going to be riden illegally.
Thats good they go on the pavements and want u 2 move out the way 2 let them by should not be aloud on pavements and the way they go in the square in johnstone nice days parents are sitting in square and the kids are playing and got 2 move 2 let them by on these bikes
