Skipinnish will headline the Paisley Christmas Lights Switch-On as Renfrewshire launches a programme of free-to-attend festive events across five towns in November.
The traditional music act will perform on Saturday 14th November before Paisley’s Christmas lights are switched on at 6pm.
The main stage programme will also feature Artie’s Singing Kettle, Let Robbie Entertain You and The Laurettes.
Family activities will include arts and crafts workshops at The Art Department, light tunnels in Dunn Square and a funfair on Bridge Street.
Street entertainment will include the Living Snow Globes by The Show Globe, Winter Birds and the Bad Santas. Local acts will give pop-up performances throughout the day. A market curated by Big Feed will offer food, drink and artisan gifts.
Further festive events will take place in Linwood on Thursday 19th November, Renfrew on Saturday 21st November, Erskine on Friday 27th November and Johnstone on Saturday 28th November.
Linwood’s programme will include a Christmas concert and family panto in the Tweedie Hall. Both are free, with tickets bookable in advance.
Drop-in activities will run throughout the evening, including children’s Christmas discos and festive arts and crafts led by Linwood War Memorial Association.
Renfrew town centre will host free entertainment, including a live stage programmed by Fitzpatrick Academy of Music. There will also be a Christmas market from Stall Hire Scotland, a funfair and a carol concert with Renfrew Burgh Band.
Erskine’s Christmas lights will be switched on from the new Erskine Civic Square. Organised in partnership with Erskine Rotary Club and Erskine Arts, the evening will include a giant snow globe and performances from local musicians and school choirs.
Johnstone’s event will take place in Houstoun Square, with the town centre lights switched on alongside free family entertainment. The programme will include a live stage programmed by Johnstone Sound and the St Vincent’s Hospice Christmas Market.
Renfrewshire Council Events Manager Pauline Allan said: “The festive season is one of the highlights of the year, and we’re excited to bring another fantastic programme of free-to-attend events to all five of Renfrewshire’s towns.
“Working alongside our community partners, local organisations, volunteers and performers, we’re creating plenty of opportunities for families and friends to come together, enjoy great entertainment and make special festive memories this November.”
