Community centres, sports facilities and Johnstone Bandstand are included in a proposed £1m improvement programme across Renfrewshire.

Ralston Sports Centre and Bishopton Pavilion are each listed for £150,000 under plans setting out how an existing council fund would be allocated.

Renfrewshire Council’s Infrastructure, Land and Environment Policy Board will consider the report on Wednesday, 4th November 2026.

Falcon Day Centre and Beechwood Community Centre are each proposed for £100,000. Hunterhill Community Centre is listed for £90,000, Brediland Community Centre for £60,000 and Cartside Community Centre for £40,000.

A further £75,000 is proposed for the former Longcroft Children’s Home and £10,000 for Johnstone Bandstand.

The programme also includes £35,000 for old pavilion and container removal for Social Work Justice.

The total includes £190,000 already allocated or committed to minor upgrades and works at Lochwinnoch Annexe, Howwood Village Hall, Glenburn Resource Centre and Beechwood Community Centre.

The fund brings together £800,000 allocated in February 2025 and a further £200,000 allocated for sports pavilions in February 2026.

Its aims include improving council-owned buildings to help communities take them on through community asset transfers.

The report says Bishopton Pavilion will cost more than its £150,000 allocation. Additional council capital funding for building repairs and replacement will be added.

Council officers will oversee the works, agree priorities with groups and obtain invoices. The funding will not simply be passed to community groups to spend as they wish.

Some work could progress quickly, but planning and tendering requirements mean some funding may need to carry into the 2027/28 financial year.

The board is being asked to note the report and funding programme.
