A Paisley law firm has scooped a major national honour after being named High Street Firm of the Year at The Herald Law Awards of Scotland 2025.

MJC Law picked up the title earlier this month, becoming the first firm in Renfrewshire to win the award.

Firm owner and director Matthew Coffield said his team was “absolutely thrilled” to be recognised on a national stage. He added that the honour was made even more special by the strength of this year’s judging panel, which included representatives from the Law Society of Scotland, Crown Counsel and two King’s Counsel.

He said: “I am so proud to share the good news that MJC LAW are the High Street Firm of the Year.

“On Friday 7 November 2025 we attended the Herald Law Awards. It was a tremendous event and was attended by the very best of the best in the legal profession. The judging panel included The Law Society of Scotland, Crown Counsel, and two King’s Counsel among others. No sterner test is available, and we came away with the massive win.

“We work hard at MJC LAW, every single one of us. We do well by doing what is right for our community in Paisley, in Renfrewshire and beyond.

“We are excited for the future.”

Judges praised the firm for its strategic growth, financial management and commitment to providing accessible legal services. They highlighted MJC Law’s clear vision, expansion and focus on community-based work, describing the firm’s approach as impactful and sustainable.

The team say they are grateful for the ongoing support of clients, colleagues and the wider community, and returned to work this week after a brief celebration.

They added that the award marks a significant milestone as they look ahead to further growth.
