Renfrewshire Council is considering plans to create new floodlit 3G football pitches at two secondary schools in Linwood.
Planning applications have been submitted for upgrades to the existing playing fields at Linwood High School on Stirling Drive and St Benedict’s High School on Bridge of Weir Road.
If approved, both projects would see new artificial football pitches installed alongside floodlighting, perimeter fencing, supporting columns and associated hard and soft landscaping works.
The proposals are aimed at replacing existing playing areas with modern all-weather facilities that can be used throughout the year.
Planning documents show each development would also include new drainage systems beneath the pitches. The systems have been designed to manage surface water and cope with significant rainfall events while allowing water to drain naturally into the ground.
No new vehicle access or parking is proposed as part of either development, with the work focused on upgrading the existing sports facilities within the school grounds.
The applications have been submitted by Amey PLC on behalf of Renfrewshire Council and are currently out for public consultation until Tuesday, 28th July.
If granted planning permission, the developments would provide both schools with modern floodlit 3G football facilities designed for year-round use.
