Canon Michael McMahon is leaving St Conval’s Parish in Linwood after 11 years as parish priest.
He has been asked by Bishop John Keenan to move to St Patrick’s and St Joseph’s Parish in Wemyss Bay by 18th September.
A message in the St Conval’s weekly bulletin said: “He will be very much missed by everyone, and we thank him for looking after, guiding and shepherding the Parish Community over these past years.
“We wish him every health and happiness in his new Parish. He is sad to leave the Parish and the Schools but knows a fresh face with new initiatives is required for the Parish and he himself will relish new challenges!”
Father Joe McGill will replace Canon Michael as the new parish priest at St Conval’s.
The bulletin added: “Please give him a warm welcome.”
