Problems with showers, doors and lockers at Johnstone Community Sports Hub and On-X in Linwood have been raised at a Renfrewshire Council meeting.
The condition of the facilities was discussed during the council’s Leadership Board meeting on Wednesday 16 September 2026, as members considered an update on OneRen.
Councillor Iain McMillan said: “Too many showers are broken for far too long. They end up with red and white tape over them, and they seem to be like that for months on end. Doors are broken and so are lockers.”
He said vandalism accounted for some of the damage but called for basic repairs to be completed more quickly.
A OneRen representative accepted that low-level repairs were affecting people’s day-to-day experience and said this was unacceptable.
OneRen is working with the council’s property services on a programme intended to bring facilities back up to standard.
Members were also told that some previous suppliers of equipment were no longer in business, creating difficulties when replacements were needed.
The convener said a programme was being developed to invest £2 million in various centres, alongside facilities management.
