Primary pupils at Dargavel Primary School have helped spread festive cheer across their local community after teaming up with homebuilder Taylor Wimpey West Scotland for a Christmas card competition.Primary 6 pupils were invited to design festive artwork to be shared with residents living in the nearby Dargavel View and Dargavel Village developments. The project aimed to bring the school and wider community together during the run-up to Christmas.
A range of colourful and creative designs were submitted, with Annalise named overall winner. Her artwork was reproduced and sent out as a digital Christmas card to local residents. Two runners-up, Lauren and Amelia, were also recognised for their efforts.
As part of the competition, Annalise received a £50 national book voucher, while the two runners-up were awarded £25 book vouchers each in recognition of their creativity and hard work.
Audrey Ross, sales and marketing director at Taylor Wimpey West Scotland, said the company was delighted with the response from pupils.
She said the enthusiasm and creativity shown by the children had been impressive and added that initiatives like the competition were part of a wider commitment to building strong, connected communities rather than just new homes.
Louise Chisholm, depute head teacher at Dargavel Primary School, said pupils had enjoyed the opportunity to express their creativity and were proud to see their work shared beyond the school.
She added that the collaboration helped strengthen links between the school and the wider local community, while giving pupils a chance to be involved in something positive and festive.
The winning and shortlisted designs were shared with residents in the two housing developments in the run-up to Christmas, adding a personal touch to local celebrations.
