A 44-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with two thefts and four attempted thefts committed in Paisley between 26th and 27th December 2025.

The offences took place in the Whitehaugh, Castlehead and Charleston areas of the town.

The man is due to appear at court at a later date.

Police Inspector Lorna McLaren of Police Scotland said the incidents were particularly worrying due to the nature of those targeted.

“These offences are concerning as they targeted vulnerable members of our community,” she said. “This arrest is a result of proactive police work by local officers and information provided by members of the community.”

Inspector McLaren added that officers are urging residents to remain alert. She added: “We would like to remind residents to remain vigilant and to report anyone acting suspiciously to 101 or 999 in an emergency situation,” she said. “Please keep your doors locked and ensure cash and valuable items are kept out of sight.”
