A young footballer from Johnstone is preparing for the opportunity of a lifetime after being selected to travel to Barcelona to train and compete in an elite international football programme representing Scotland.

Luke has been chosen to take part in the international programme in March and April 2026, where he will train and compete against teams from across Europe — a major milestone in his football journey.

His mum, Jennifer, said the opportunity reflects not just Luke’s ability on the pitch, but the confidence and direction football has given him as a young person.

Luke first found football at the age of six when he joined St Mirren YFC 2014. From those early sessions, the game became more than just a sport — it became a source of confidence, focus and motivation.

Now, with a place secured on the international programme, Luke is raising funds to help cover the cost of the trip. He will take on a sponsored hike with his uncle Sean, with plans in place to climb either a local hill or a Munro in the coming weeks.

Jennifer said every donation, no matter the size, helps bring Luke closer to fulfilling his dream of playing football at the highest level possible for his age.

Supporters can help by donating or by sharing the fundraiser to spread the word and help give Luke the chance to represent Scotland on an international stage.

Donations can be made via Luke’s GoFundMe page, here: https://www.gofundme.com/f/support-lukes-football-dream-a-lifechanging-opportunity.
