First-time buyer interest is rising at a new apartment development next to Braehead Shopping Centre, as rents continue to increase faster than house prices across Renfrewshire.

Ashberry Homes said more first-time buyers have been visiting its Ferry Grove development since the start of the year, as average rents in Renfrewshire rose by 7.1% over the past 12 months, compared with a 5.7% rise in the average price paid by first-time buyers.

Sales director Pauline Coates said the difference is making buying a more realistic option for some renters. She said average rents reached £882, while talk of possible future interest rate cuts is also encouraging people to consider purchasing.

The development sits beside Braehead Shopping Centre and includes two-bedroom, energy-efficient apartments that are ready to move into. The homes come with internal upgrades, a fitted kitchen with white goods, and access to communal electric vehicle charging points. Solar panels are also installed on site.

Prices at Ferry Grove start from £190,995 for a two-bedroom apartment. Ashberry Homes said its sales team is focused on helping first-time buyers understand the buying process and what support may be available.

The showhomes and sales office are open on Thursdays from 10am until 7pm, Fridays and Mondays from 10am until 5pm, and Saturdays and Sundays from 11am until 5pm.
