Kira Mitchell (bib 619) of Kilbarchan AAC competes in the U14 Girls 1500m, finishing fifth with a personal best of 5:07.90

Kilbarchan Amateur Athletics Club (AAC) athletes delivered a series of outstanding performances at the Scottish Athletics National Age Group Indoor Championships at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow from Friday 6th March to Sunday 8th March 2026, securing medals, personal bests and several finals appearances across the weekend.

Alice Maddams led the way for the club by becoming the U14 Girls High Jump champion, clearing 1.44m – a personal best – to take the national title.

In the U14 age group, Blair Wright won his race in the Boys 1500m in a split timed final. Rosie Stein finished fifth in the Girls 60m final with a personal best time of 8.55 seconds and also ran 28.10 seconds in the 200m semi-final. Kira Mitchell placed fifth in the Girls 1500m with a personal best of 5:07.90.

In the U16 events, Maxwell Mungin claimed a bronze medal in the Boys 800m with a personal best time of 2:09.43. Jay Jenkins ran a personal best of 4:48.46 in the Boys 1500m. Elish Inglis recorded personal bests in both the 60m (9.09) and 200m heats (31.54), while Megan Cowan ran 9.66 in the 60m heats.

In the older age groups, AJ Campbell secured bronze in the U20 Men’s 400m with a time of 50.43 seconds. Daniel Bruce finished fourth in the U20 Men’s 400m final with 51.01 after earlier reaching the 60m final where he placed seventh in 7.30 seconds. Oran McShane ran a personal best of 7.40 in the U20 60m heats before finishing fourth in the U20 Men’s 200m final with another personal best of 23.27.

Overall, Kilbarchan AAC athletes enjoyed a highly successful championships, bringing home medals and achieving a number of personal best performances across the different age groups.

Kilbarchan AAC President Richard Farquhar, said: “Everyone at Kilbarchan AAC is incredibly proud of the athletes who competed at the national championships. To win medals at this level is a fantastic achievement, and it was great to see so many personal bests and strong performances across the age groups.

“The dedication these young athletes show in training is paying off, and they represented the club brilliantly.”
