MP Mhairi Black has praised the Scottish Government after they pledged £195 million investment into their Help to Buy Scheme.

Figures show that similar home ownership schemes have helped around 20,000 families across Scotland to buy their own homes. It is believed that roughly three-quarters of those helped by the schemes have been under the age of 35.

Mhairi Black MP for Paisley and Renfrewshire South has said she has welcomed the commitment by the Scottish Government.

She said “The Scottish Government are leading the way in helping our younger generation get onto the property ladder.

“The SNP are protecting young people from Tory cuts and this is really evident when it comes to housing. The SNP have fully mitigated the bedroom tax and are providing additional funding for 18-21 year-olds after the UK government decision to remove housing benefit from them.”

“Providing housing support such as this gives our young people a better chance starting out adult life than anywhere else in the UK”

The £195 million investment by the Scottish Government will take place from now up until 2019.
