A coffee chain has applied for planning permission to build a new restaurant in Linwood with plans to open 24-hours-a-day.Canadian company Tim Hortons wants to open their second branch in UK on the grounds of the former Rootes car factory.
The application states: “The attraction of a new brand in the UK and across Europe to Renfrewshire will contribute to promoting Renfrewshire as a key location for inward investment.
“The majority of the jobs created will be for the local community, thus boosting local employment.
“As well as direct employment, there will also be construction jobs and associated supply chain employment created through the development.
“The proposal would result in investment into the area with a total value of £700,000.
“The proposal will improve the amenity of workers and visitors within the business area and will be an attractive offer for businesses looking to locate here.
“The new provision will also improve consumer choice south of Linwood Road.”
If the restaurant gets the go-ahead from Renfrewshire Council come November, Tim Hortons will bring 25 new jobs to the area.
