A man has died after the van he was driving crashed into a wall on Barochan Road near to Johnstone. Police believe that the driver may have taken ill at the wheel.
The 54-year-old man, who had a young child in his white Ford Transit van, was taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The child passenger was uninjured.
The crash happened at around 7.50pm on Saturday 30th September 2017. No other vehicles were involved.
Officers at the Divisional Road Policing Unit based at Greenock are continuing their enquiries into the incident.
One line of enquiry is that the driver may have taken ill at the wheel, however any witnesses or anyone with information is asked to contact Police constable John McLaughlin, Road Policing department at Greenock Police Office through 101.
