Renfrewshire is set to receive £2.628 million for regeneration and commercial development projects across the area.
The provisional funding would support work at the Advanced Manufacturing Innovation District Scotland, Houston Court in Johnstone and council-owned industrial properties.
Renfrewshire Council’s Economy and Regeneration Policy Board approved the proposed use of the money when it met on Tuesday 25th August 2026.
The funding forms part of the UK Government’s Local Growth Fund and must still be confirmed by the Glasgow City Region Cabinet.
Part of the money would be used for infrastructure and design work at the Advanced Manufacturing Innovation District Scotland.
This would include a revised masterplan, new access roads and an upgraded roundabout. The work is intended to open up future development sites and improve connections within the district.
The board heard that the existing masterplan was prepared before the current national planning framework came into effect.
An updated plan would take account of current policies covering flood risk, water management, sustainable transport, net zero, biodiversity and climate resilience.
The second proposed project is the regeneration of Houston Court in Johnstone town centre.
Plans include demolishing the vacant former supermarket, carrying out site investigations and constructing two new flexible business units.
Existing commercial units would also be refurbished as part of the first phase of the Johnstone Town Centre Vision.

The remaining priority is an improvement programme for council-owned industrial properties.
This could include internal improvements, clearing yards, environmental work and improvements to surrounding public areas. The aim is to make the properties more attractive to businesses and increase occupancy.
A full business case will be required before the funding can be released.
The board was told that the council still had to decide whether to submit one business case covering all the projects or separate applications.
Progress is expected during 2027, with further updates due to be presented to the board.
Renfrewshire will also receive £483,000 in revenue funding during 2026/27 to support business services, employment programmes and skills development.
Businesses in the area are expected to benefit from a further £233,120 through a regional programme offering grants of up to £10,000 for environmental improvements and business growth.
