The A737 between Kilbarchan to Howwood has been reopened after a serious accident this morning.

The accident, involving a 54-year-old was travelling towards Johnstone on the A737 when his Hyundai car collided with a 4 x 4Mitsubishi Shogun.

He suffered head and chest injuries and was taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital (RAH) in Paisley shortly after the accident at around 6am on Friday.

The other driver, aged 69, suffered minor head injuries and was treated for his injuries at the RAH as well.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Police and emergency services were called to a report of a road traffic collision on the A737 in Renfrewshire.

“Both drivers have been removed from their vehicles and have been taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley.

“The road was re-opened at around 8.30am.”
