Around 100 Syrian refugees have arrived at Glasgow Airport this afternoon to start a new life in Scotland.

The group are mainly families and are the first of a series of charter flights carrying refugees.

Local authorities across Scotland’s central belt will rehouse them including ours, Renfrewshire Council.

The families who arrived in Glasgow are from refugee camps in Lebanon, Jordan and other countries near Syria and include people suffering from health problems and post traumatic stress disorder.

Mhairi Black MP for Paisley and Renfrewshire South said via Faceook “Glad to see so much vocal support, especially online for the refugees arriving today.”
