SOUNDROUTES SINGERS – THREE NEW CHOIRS FROM JANUARY 2016
Following the success of SoundRoutes flash-mob train proposal on the Glasgow to Hamilton train in November – https://youtu.be/9zLbXwq3lI8 – which had over 1 million views, the choir is excited to be starting three new groups, one of which will be in Kirkintilloch.
SoundRoutes Singers is a community choir founded in 2009 by award-winning musician Shona Brown with groups in Motherwell, Bearsden, Hamilton and Carluke.
The choir is set to almost double in size from four to seven locations with new groups in Paisley, East Kilbride and Kirkintilloch, starting the week beginning 25th January 2016.
SoundRoutes hold inspiring weekly rehearsals where adults of all ages are welcome, even those who think they can’t sing! There are no auditions or requirements to read music – participants are taught by ear. Sessions are fun and informal, a place for members to learn harmony singing, improve their voice, make new friends, raise money for charity and enjoy opportunities to record and perform.
In 2012 the singers collaborated in a ground-breaking project where choir members joined Addiewell Prison Choir in West Lothian to record a four-track EP in aid of Shelter Scotland, raising over £3,000, the first project of it’s kind in the UK.
SoundRoutes are currently working with the Carers Trust to raise funds and awareness for unpaid carers.
The cost per session is £5 and participants only have to pay as they attend.
