A local football team have raised money for Renfrewshire Foodbank and a Christmas Day Lunch.
Ferguslie Star Amateur Football Club players and families, along with some members of the local community, helped raise funds to buy food for Renfrewshire Food Bank.
In total, the team managed to raise enough money to buy 180kg of food.
Most of the food, 100kg worth will go to the Foodbank, but the remaining 80kg will go to a Christmas Day Lunch at the Tweedie Hall in Linwood for residents and pensioners who would normally eat alone at Christmas.
Alan Turner, manager of Ferguslie Star told Renfrewshire News: “The collection was organised by players from the over 35s, amateur and youth teams. A few locals also donated.
“In total, we bought 180kg of food. With just under 100kg going to the Renfrewshire Foodbank and the remaining items going to the Renfrewshire Christmas Day lunch appeal which is being held at the Tweedie Hall in Linwood for pensioners and people needing company. They will serve a Christmas meal and provide the guests with a food parcel when leaving.
“The community has always been generous to us whenever we have needed sponsorship or prizes for fundraising events and we decided it would be a good idea to try give a little back and hopefully make someones Christmas that bit easier.”
